If a pony car and a supercar had a child, it would be the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD coupe. This supercharged beast lets enthusiasts skip aftermarket modifications and hit the track straight from the showroom.
Experience the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD
Traditional Pony Car Looks
In appearance, the Mustang GTD is very much a part of the Ford Mustang family. LED tri-bar headlights, a signature honeycomb grille, a galloping horse emblem, and tri-bar LED taillights are some of the elements that reaffirm the coupe’s Mustang identity. It also sports a fastback roofline, which was a common design feature in classic pony cars and continues to define the latest generation of Mustangs.
Although much of its design is rooted in tradition, the GTD features visible motorsport DNA. For instance, it has a chiseled body, aggressive front splitter, and high-rise rear wing, all of which optimize airflow at high speeds. Two functional hood vents help cool the engine, and a bold, low stance gives it road-hugging handling.
Supercharged Engine
A modified Predator 5.2L supercharged V8 powers the coupe, generating an ear-splitting 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. It is the most powerful V8 ever placed in a production Mustang, featuring motorsport-grade technologies like a dry sump oil system that prevents oil starvation. The engine is linked to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, which provides white-knuckle shifts, and a lightweight titanium Akrapovic exhaust, which amplifies the Mustang GTD’s throaty roar.
Exceptional Maneuverability
The Mustang GTD is more than just a straight-line missile; it clears bends and corners without breaking a sweat, thanks to its lightweight carbon-fiber body and nearly 50-50 weight distribution. Additionally, a motorsport-grade suspension with Multimatic DSSV technology underpins the coupe, providing unmatched lateral stiffness, precise adaptive damping, and a first-of-its-kind dual-ride height feature.
Record-Setting Performance
The combination of its aerodynamic design, supercharged engine, and outstanding maneuverability makes the Mustang GTD a monster on the track. When put to the test, it cleared all 73 turns and corners of the Nürburgring strip in only 6 minutes and 52.072 seconds. This makes the Mustang GTD the current record-holder for the fastest Nürburgring lap time by an American production car. The coupe reaches a vision-blurring top speed of 202 mph.
Carbon Ceramic Brembo Brakes
Brembo performance anti-lock brakes, consisting of large rotors and six-piston front calipers, enable drivers to bring the monstrously powerful coupe to a quick stop. To prevent the brakes from overheating with all the friction they generate, the Mustang GTD’s design incorporates cooling front fender vents that redirect air to the setup.
