I started working in the dealerships in high school as a porter & detailer. After graduating from college, I spent the first couple years of my career selling cars at Golf Mill Ford in Chicago. I moved back home to help the family business in 2016, taking a sales manager & finance manager role at Suntrup Ford Westport. In 2022, I became Vice President of Operations. In my free time I enjoy golfing and spending time outdoors.

While I recently joined the Suntrup family, I have been in the car business for well over 30 years. I have been married to my best friend for 30 years and we raised our 2 children within 5 miles of the store. When not here, you will find me traveling with or hanging out with my wife and our adult kids, if they have time for us:) And for those that know, yes, I still like sandwhiches!

As the Finance Director at Suntrup Ford Westport, I've proudly been part of the team since the late '90s. They tease me all the time that I've been here longer than the building. Not quite, but I have been here a long time. Over the years, I've worn many hats across the dealership, giving me a deep understanding of every aspect of our business. Malik Adams has been in the automotive industry for seventeen years, eleven of which have been with Suntrup Ford. Malik is known for his positive attitude, often found singing around the dealership, and treating every customer like an old friend.

I grew up around the Car business with my Father who was a Finance Manager/Director for multiple Dealerships across the Chicagoland area. I moved to the STL Metro Area in 2020 after a brief stint in the Quad Cities, forging my own way forward in the Automotive industry. After 7 total years in the business myself, I pride myself on being your friend in the Dealership and helping all my guests get their very own #DealWithWheels. When not at the dealership, you can find me with my beautiful wife and our 3 kids making memories. 

I’m Derek and I’ve been an automotive enthusiast for most of my life. I enjoy helping people, and when I’m not helping folks with their issues, I’m either found at home spending time with my German Shepherd, Vera, or out at car shows both as an active participant and to see what everyone else shows off most of the year.

With 26 years in the automotive industry, I bring extensive experience and dedication to service excellence. Outside of work, I enjoy quality time with my family and outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and sports, including basketball, soccer, and football.

I have been in the automotive business for 5 years in multiple depts. I love getting to know the business and how best to take care of our customers! Prior, I was a proud member of the United Sates Navy as a Fire Controlman. In my off time, I am a recent homeowner with my better half! I hope to see you soon!!!!

Whether it’s tracking down the right part or offering recommendations, I take pride in making sure you get the best service possible. When I’m not behind the counter, you’ll probably find me out on the water, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

I was born on a rainy Thursday—maybe that’s why I thrive in a fast-paced environment. A proud high school graduate, I bring dedication and attention to detail to every customer interaction. Oh, and if you ever want to win me over, tacos are the way to my heart!
